A Community Group is a small group that meets weekly for friendship and building connections @ Journey Church.
WHEN DO COMMUNITY GROUPS MEET?
Community Groups meet in the evenings throughout the week. We currently have groups meeting every night from Sunday-Thursday.
Where do Community Groups meet?
Most of our Community Groups meet in homes throughout the Des Moines and Ankeny Metro area. Some of our groups meet in the lounge at Journey, which is located in Urbandale.
Are kids welcome at Community Groups?
Some of our Community Groups are set up for childcare or are "child Friendly" and some do not offer childcare. That information is listed with each of our groups (see above).
What happens at a Community Group?
While each group is unique, there is a basic format that all of our groups follow. As people are showing up there is food and hanging out. Once it's time to start, the group will use a small group study (usually a video-based study from RightNow Media) and there will be a discussion of the topic for the night. Groups end with a chance to pray for each other. Then once the group is done you can take off or hang out a little longer. It's very casual and friendship-oriented.
What is the goal of Community Groups?
While we want groups to help you take your next step toward Christ (that's why we use solid, bible-based materials for our Community Groups), our #1 goal for Community Groups is relationships. We want you to feel connected to Journey and we hope that you will end up having 2-3 of your closest friends be people from Journey.
If you have more questions about Community Groups, please contact Alex Dingman, our Connections Director.
